Bulldog Athletics…there is something special going on.!!
Athletics Update – Fall Season Ending - 2013
Another successful season in the books! We picked up two Foothills Championships and sent two teams to the Sectional Finals as well. Field Hockey notched their first league title in 25 years while the Boys Soccer rebounded from a 0-3 start to win the title. Both of those teams finished Class A Section 2 Finalists. We also had a first in Cross Country as Sara Billings made it to the States which resulted in her best time of her career. In the Foothills both the Boys and Girls Cross Country finished 5-2 and 3rd place! In Girls Tennis Christine Arnold did it again by making it to the Sectionals and getting a solid seed and played extremely well in the tournament. Volleyball and Golf were young and battled hard and improved but just ran into better competition while Football did the same in Class A competition. Golf finished very strong placing 3rd in the Foothills Tournament and Clark Leonelli made it to the Sectionals and did very well. Rounding out the varsity season was Girls Swimming who had six swimmers qualify for sectionals with standout 8th grader Kailyn Anselment being one of them! The team set 105 personal records and dropped 409 seconds off their times from the start to the finish of the season.
All of the JV teams finished with a winning record this season! Volleyball went undefeated and Football made the playoffs for the first time in history. Volleyball finished 14-0 while Football went 6-3 and finished as the 3rd ranked team in Class A. Girls and Boys Soccer ended a combined 25-7 and gave everyone a run for their money and Field Hockey notched a winning season as well. The immediate future is very bright!
On the modified level the Boys and Girls Soccer finished undefeated as the girls outscored the competition 87-3! They outshot teams 322-72 and Jess Winslow scored an amazing 53 goals! Modified Football finished 5-2 with a close loss 12-6 to Glens Falls. Volleyball finished 10-4. Field Hockey had a tough season in the win-loss column but improved against the same competition from the beginning to the end of the year. Cross Country saw their biggest team yet on Modified and they fared well during the season as the girls won 3 invitationals. The next round of teams and athletes looks just as impressive as the JV results.
Some of our athletes were recognized for their performances. Field Hockey standout Emily Sharpe was named WCKM Radio’s Scholar Athlete of the Week while the The Chronicle newspaper named Pat Fish and Kaitlyn Hansen Scholar Athletes for October. While Jake Normandin played on the victorious North team in the Section 2 Football All-Star game.
